Spreadsheet Server v26.2 Release Notes

This document describes the new features and resolved issues for Spreadsheet Server v26.2.

Spreadsheet Server v26.2 New Features

Spreadsheet Server v26.2 introduces two features that work together to simplify installation and onboarding:

  • Platform Storage Integration establishes a centralized, automatically managed storage location for configuration files.
  • Automated Profile Delivery uses that storage to deliver a tailored GL profile without Professional Services assistance.
Title Description
Platform Storage Integration

Spreadsheet Server now reads and writes configuration files directly from Platform Storage, eliminating the need to manually map file paths to local, network, or SharePoint locations. When an administrator opens Application Configurator on v26.2 or later, existing configurations are automatically migrated to Platform Storage. After migration, file path fields in Application Configurator and Spreadsheet Server Settings are automatically populated and set to read-only.

Prerequisites

  • Spreadsheet Server v26.2 or later
  • Provisioned Platform account with users added and licenses assigned
  • Legacy License customers are not affected and continue using existing storage options

Key Points

  • Available to all Platform License customers, regardless of ERP connection type
  • Migration runs automatically when the administrator opens Application Configurator for the first time on v26.2 or later
  • Account Managers can opt out of settings migration during the upgrade process. To opt out, clear the Perform Settings Migration checkbox. To migrate to Platform Storage at a later time, contact insightsoftware Support.
  • File path fields are set to read-only and locked to Platform Storage after migration; no manual configuration is required
  • SSSettings.xml, ACSettings.xml, and Backups remain local and are not stored in Platform Storage
  • Query Designer uses Application Configurator connections and stores queries in Platform Storage

For configuration steps, refer to the Platform Storage Integration topic in the Spreadsheet Server v26 documentation.

Automated Profile Delivery

Account Managers can now configure a tailored Spreadsheet Server profile using the new Profile Configuration Wizard. The wizard scans the ERP database schema automatically, guides the administrator through GL account structure and segment definitions using yes/no questions, validates data in real time, and saves the completed profile and ad hoc queries to Platform Storage. The initial release supports Viewpoint Vista and MRI Platform X.

Prerequisites

  • Spreadsheet Server v26.2 or later
  • Provisioned Platform account with users added and licenses assigned
  • Account Manager role is required to run the wizard and make profile changes

Key Points

  • No new SKUs are required; the feature uses the existing Professional Bundle with Platform SKUs
  • The wizard launches automatically after Spreadsheet Server installation; if configuration files are already present, this step is skipped
  • The wizard is accessible from the Windows Start menu and the Spreadsheet Server installer
  • The wizard can be run multiple times until the profile is accurate
  • Completed profiles and ad hoc queries are saved to Platform Storage; a local backup download is also available
  • Existing customers who migrate to this version do not need to complete the wizard; the wizard reads their existing profile and queries

For configuration steps, refer to the Automated Profile Delivery topic in the Spreadsheet Server v26 documentation.
